Alé Ambassador, Anastasia, Eyes Top 10 Finish for the UK National 25 Mile TT Championships

Have you tried time trialling? We caught up with one of our ambassadors, Anastasia Bowler, to hear how she’s been getting on so far this year…

“In March I competed in the ECCA Championship and managed a win, even though it was on a pretty slow day. I was aiming for a PB but the wind unfortunately wasn’t on my side and I didn’t quite manage it this time around. I also found it a bit sketchy towards the end! However, I took the in by 50 seconds in 22:31!

I then came second at the Good Friday 10 on another fast course with a time of 21:26. This still wasn’t the sub 21 I’m after, but I’m getting closer! Sadly, on Sunday 1st May, I had some mechanical mystery during the Westerly CC 10 Mile event (as goes bike racing!) and although I came second on the day, I was 50 seconds down on a day I should have gone a lot faster. The positive is that I’ve been seeing really consistent power numbers, and I’ve been pacing very well so far this season, so I’m really happy to see my winter training has paid off!

I’ve now got a block of training before my first ever 50 mile TT on the 21st May and I’m very excited to give this distance a go, as I seem to be a bit better over longer distances! Depending on how I get on, I may enter the National 50 in late June.

On the 28th May I’ve got a 25 mile TT, supposedly a fast course so I’m hoping to be quick! Sadly, my favourite fast course isn’t coming back this year so I need to post a good time somewhere! This will be great practice for the National 25 on the 11th June down in Exeter. I’m hoping to break the top 10 here, after coming 11th last year, but obviously anything can happen on the day!

The week after this is a fast 10mile course that I am hoping I will finally break 21 on! I almost did last year but got caught up at a roundabout, costing me the precious seconds I needed!

In the next few weeks I will be starting to do my local Thursday night TT’s which are great training, and of course a lot of fun!”

So, the question is, has Anastasia encourage you to give time trialling a go?
